Ella Carey on the web:
It tells a story that I think will resonate with everyone- of the effects of war and of not talking about the past on a family and on relationships.
My favorite scene to write was the Christmas scene in the 1930s in the former East Germany. What was your favorite scene to write?
What is your dream cast for your book?
My dream cast would be Gerard Butler for Wil, and Dan Stevens for Max. Probably Carey Mulligan for Isabelle.
What are you working on now?
I’m editing my third novel, which will be released with Lake Union publishing- it is also partly set in Paris.
Tell us a little bit about your book…
In 2010, Anna Young’s grandfather, Max, suddenly reveals that he is part of an aristocratic German family who lost everything after the Soviet invasion in 1946. What’s more, Anna is stunned when Max asks her to go to the palace he grew up in to retrieve something that he left there…in 1940. Once in the former East Germany, Anna discovers long buried secrets that are linked with an abandoned apartment in Paris.
