Lisa Weaver on the web:
I’ve wanted to be a writer
since I was a teenager, but my parents convinced me I’d starve to death if I
didn’t pursue a ‘real’ career. I
reluctantly acquiesced, and spent the next twenty-three years working in
Employee Development and Human Resources for a major retailer before switching
gears. Now, I provide administrative
support to a team of twelve Medicaid policy writers by day, and spin tales of
romance and intrigue by night. I bet you
can guess which of the two pursuits is the most fun.
What inspired you to be a writer?
I can’t remember a time when
books weren’t an integral part of my life.
My love of reading segued to a passion for writing. I wanted to touch other people lives in the
same way other writers’ works had impacted mine. I began penning inspirational prose in high
school, and then graduated to writing freelance leisure-themed articles for the
local paper. More recently, I made the
move to fiction, and several of my short romance stories have been published by
Woman’s World Magazine. “The
Billionaire’s Bodyguard Bride” is my debut novel, and I couldn’t be more
excited!
How did you get picked by Kindle Press?
Kindle Press is the most incredible opportunity for
writers! I’m still amazed at how
wonderfully simple the entire process was.
When I heard about the program, I was immediately intrigued. I knew I had to submit my novel. Much to my delight, it was approved for a thirty-day
campaign. I had the opportunity to share
the first 5,000 words of “The Billionaire’s Bodyguard Bride” with the world,
and Kindle Scouts had the chance to nominate it for publication. A few short days after my campaign ended I
got the amazing news that my book had been chosen! I’m still floating on Cloud 9. The process was professional, responsive, and
a perfect fit for this newbie author.

Covert protection agent
Lauren Reynolds knows, firsthand, that handsome billionaire Rafe Dimitriou is
the kind of man who gives love a bad name.
Assigned to guard him without his knowledge, she vows to keep him safe
without succumbing to the chemistry sizzling between them. If Rafe learns the real reason she’s agreed
to his marriage ultimatum, both his life and her heart will be in jeopardy. “The Billionaire’s Bodyguard Bride” follows these
two strong-willed characters, both with hidden agendas, as they overcome the
personal demons that stand between them and a lifetime of love. It’s a story of unexpected second chances and
a revenge plot gone wrong; of secrets
and passion, all laced with a hint of suspense.
While I spent time with
Rafe and Lauren, recounting their romance, the other men and women of the Sentinels
Agency began clamoring to have their stories told, as well. I left the Mendacci mystery that plays a
small part in this book open-ended, and its threads will be woven throughout the
next books in the Secret Sentinels series.

Loved this interview! Lisa is beautiful! <3
ReplyDeleteMorgan, you are so sweet! I'm glad you enjoyed the interview. And you've made my day...actually, my entire year with your wonderful comment. I have Rosacea, so when I look in the mirror all I see is a red and heavily blemished face. We're always our own worse critics, I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa
ReplyDeleteI do love the sound of this one congrats on the release
Have fun
Helen
I am glad that Lisa was able to reach her dream of being and author at last. What a great program I had no idea it existed.
ReplyDeleteHi Helen,
ReplyDeleteThank you, and I'm thrilled you liked the storyline. Rafe and Lauren's happily-ever-after was so much fun to write!
Hi Heidi,
ReplyDeleteKindle Scout is new and exciting, and it's making amazing things happen for undiscovered writers, like me. It gives readers a voice in what they'd like to see published, and that's a beautiful thing. I think the program is only in the U.S. at the moment, but it would be wonderful to see it expand to other countries. It's making dreams come true!
Sounds like a great read. I have not heard about Kindle Scout.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liz. Kindle Scout is new, and such a wonderful opportunity for writers and readers alike. I believe it's only in the U.S. at the moment, but hopefully it will extend to other countries in the near future.
DeleteCan I just say that I LOVE the name Rafe for a male character, especially a billionaire named Rafe! Sounds like my kind of story! And I had to chuckle that your parents thought you'd starve to death if you pursued a writing career! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to the name, too. It suits him. :)

ReplyDeleteGreat cover. Kindle Press sounds like a great opportunity.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the cover amazing, Medeia? The credit goes to Jimmy Thomas for the gorgeous image, and Ramona Lockwood for the wonderful design. And, yes, Kindle Press is tremendous!
