Let's meet Melanie now...
Who is Melanie Milburne?
I am a
romance author currently writing my 59th title for Harlequin Mills
and Boon.
Who is your favourite author?
My all time favourite is Mary
Stewart. I read her books every year to remind myself of how it (storytelling)
should be done.
Do you listen to music when you
write?
I used to always write with music playing but now I only do so if there are people in my house as conversations or background noise distracts me.

What type of music?
Classical including opera, choral or Gregorian chants. I particularly love Mozart’s Requiem if I’m writing a darker, deeply emotional novel.

What do you do to relax?
Relax? Oh yes, I remember that word. J My friends and family would answer that for me and say I NEVER relax. I am always on the go. If my body isn’t busy doing something then my mind is and at a million times an hour. Crazy, I know but that’s how I’m wired. I walk my dogs and I swim but even then I am thinking about my current work in progress or the list of things I have to do that day. I suspect I’m not much different from most women juggling the needs of family and work.

The new doc in town…
Accepting a GP sting in a remote Australian town seems like the perfect opportunity for Lady Isabella Courtney to mend her broken heart. But keeping a low profile is easier said than done when she mistakes the—incredibly hot—local cop for a stripper!
Zach Fletcher is back in Jerringa Ridge to take care of his injured father. And new doc Izzy is a delicious distraction he doesn't need. But something about her gets under her skin, and soon Zach finds himself flirting with trouble…!

wow! 59th?? There should be a huge celebration FULL of relaxation at least at every 10... man!
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy,
DeleteI am very behind in the celebrations. I sometimes buy myself something between books but even that has gone by the wayside. You've inspired me to rectify it!
That is an amazing amount of books! And I completely understand the always on the go mentality--I don't sit still very often :)
ReplyDeleteHi Meradeth,
DeleteI'm trying to teach myself to chill out a bit more. But once the momentum builds up it's hard to slow down. Thanks for posting!
59th? I'm in awe right now. Just wow!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
DeleteDon't be too awed. I have friends who've written double and triple that!
Thanks for commenting.
Mary Stewart is a gem. And any book which can be read, and reread is a winner.
ReplyDeleteLove Gregorian chants too.
Relaxing? I would like to do it much better than I manage. In my next life I hope to be a cat.
Hi Elephant's Child,
DeleteYes, a cat in the next life would be lovely, especially if it was one of mine. He he.
Glad you're a Mary Stewart fan.
Hi Melanie, this is just to message to say I love all your work and hope you're recovering well xx
ReplyDeleteHi TashNz,
DeleteI'm doing really well. Thanks so much for checking up on me! Thanks for your lovely comment. I will get better even faster now! xx
Sounds like a fun book. It's been so long since I listened to Gregorian chants. Must seek some out...
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
DeleteThey are extremely relaxing!
Thanks for posting.
Hi Melanie
ReplyDeleteI so love your stories and this one sounds really good can't wait to read it :) Oh and I so wish I could retire so I could relax and catch up on the great books I have in my TBR pile
Have Fun
Helen
I know the feeling, Helen. I have a tower of books to get through!
DeleteWow, 59 is amazing. Congrats on the new book - sounds great! I love Gregorian chants, too. I usually listen to them as I'm drifting off to sleep as they're great for relaxing. Trouble is, they inspire odd dreams! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Xandra,
DeleteI think they stir up the subconscious which is why you dream. I love that feeling. Who knows what you might find?!!!
I always loved reading Sandra Brown's old Harlequins when I was trying to remind myself what romance was all about. Over time, though, I developed a love for so many current (at the time) Harlequin authors that there were always too many new books to read!
ReplyDeleteYour choice of "mood" music is certainly appropriate for what you write! I personally have to have it absolutely quiet, or I can't hear the voices in my head. ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry,
DeleteI have days when I have to be silent so I can hear the characters too. Especially the shyer ones!
Thanks for posting.
Whewee! 59 Titles? That's epic. I know what you mean about always being on the go. My poor husband is probably going insane with the pace I keep, but it's the life, eh?
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal,
DeleteI think it's called being a woman, although I know a lot of men who are under the pump too. Maybe it's our modern life. Too much expected of all of us. Not enough time!
Congratulations on your milestone. It's hard to believe the changes in publishing since book one. Who would have forseen the advent of ebooks?
ReplyDeleteI miss classical music. I'd like to listen to it more. I've also been meaning to read Mary Stewart.
ReplyDeleteIt's great seeing Melanie around.
Wow! 59 titles-that is quite the accomplishment! I usually have several things going on at once, as well, which makes it hard to relax. But that's the way with life, right? We tend to stay busy and embrace every opportunity that comes our way.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your latest novel--sounds like it has a great premise!
I have been hearing so much about this book! I am amazed that Melanie is on her 59th book. Wow! Wishing her the best of lick with her latest release. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Melanie on your latest releases. I love your work.
