Tell us about yourself...

I am a native of Colorado, USA and have never been anywhere else in the US that I would rather to live, though I've traveled extensively throughout the country.  Most of my family live close by which I love, though there is a strong travelling gene on my mother’s side of the family.  Many of them have lived all over the world and though I have never had a desire to do that, I do enjoy traveling and there's so many places I’d love to visit.
I’m a stay-at-home mom of four and am grateful I have been able to be home to raise my children.  I have always been the oddball, even in my family, but it has never bothered me.  I like being different, looking different, having unique things.  I don't like being the same as everyone else in anything.  That having been said, NOT the kind of different that puts you in the spotlight and has everyone noticing you.

What inspired you to be a writer?

I was in eighth grade when I realized I had some story-telling skills and after messing with a few short stories, I started a full-length romance.  As soon as I did, I decided it was almost as much fun as reading them.  I was hooked!

How did you choose your genre?

My grandmother was always giving us books as gifts and one time when she visited she pulled out several of her Harlequin Romances and wanted me to take one to read.  It took me forever to decide because I thought they all sounded boring, but to be nice I settled on one.  How funny that I ended up loving that book and became addicted to reading romance more than any other kind of book.  It was a no-brainer when I started writing that it would be category romance.

What made you tell this story and why did you write this book?

They always say, write what you like to read and I really enjoy a little suspense and adventure with my romance, but there aren’t very many of them out there unless you go to a bit longer book.  Since it was hard to come by a shorter series romance with that aspect in it, I did what I always do.  If I can’t find it anywhere else, make it myself.

How did you come up with the title?

I was targeting the Harlequin Romance line with this story and decided to give it a title that was similar to the ones they were using.  It was a good choice because even though it didn’t make it with Harlequin Romance, Harlequin Escape wanted the story and kept the title.

What is your favourite scene?

You’re really going to make me pick a favourite huh?  I think it would be the scene at the end of chapter 3.  It popped in my head as I was writing and just flowed.  It was one of my easier scenes because it didn’t require much editing when I went back through.  Love those moments of inspiration.  You want to share them with the world because in your gut you know you did something good.

Tell us a little about your book?

There were a lot of things that intimidated me about writing this book.  The suspense aspect was probably the biggest one with the second a tie between the abuse victim and the psychiatrist as the main characters.  However, I think I pulled it off for the most part, and you’re going to love Paisley and Sterling.  Neither one of them want a romantic relationship, but they can’t resist each other.

Her Knight In Shining Armour

She may not need a knight in shining armour to save her, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to look a gift knight in the visor...

Paisley doesn’t need a knight in shining armour to rescue her from her high-powered, abusive ex-husband. She’s got it covered on her own: she's changed her name, liquidated her assets, and has a plan to disappear in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Psychiatrist Sterling James has absolutely no intention of being anyone’s saviour. The only woman he has any time for is his sister. But circumstances change when Sterling finds Paisley in an unexpected and life-threatening situation. Brought in to the drama of her escape, Sterling finds himself invested, and he can't move on until he knows Paisley is going to be safe.

It should be a simple enough exercise to get Paisley out of the park and into her new life. But nothing is ever as simple as it should be, and Sterling soon discovers that even if her ex-husband buys the set-up, he might not be able to watch Paisley go...

  3. Sounds like an interesting book, and I'm intrigued by the British spellings of "armour" and "favourite" from a Colorado native. Looks like Robyn really DOES like to be different! Congrats, and best wishes for much success.

    1. LOL Susan! I like the British/Australian spellings for sure, but that's not why they're spelled that way. How cool that you picked up on that. My editor and I had a discussion about it because the publisher is out of Harlequin Australia and though I spelled it the US way initially they changed it in our correspondence. Since that's how it's spelled in Australia, I went through and changed it all in the template. Then my editor changed it back when we did the edits and I called her on it. We decided to go with the US spelling and when the book came out, it was the Brit/Aussie way. And there you have it, to make a short story long...:D
