When I first wrote FLY AWAY PETA,
I hadn’t thought past writing my first novel. A series wasn’t even on the
cards. So when the plot developed twists and turns of intrigue, I suddenly found
secondary characters developing their own story to tell.
Detective Mark Johnson,
Peta’s brother, came across as a strong character for his own story but first,
I had to develop a plot for him to work with. The ending of FLY AWAY PETA hints at more to come for
Mark, who I found readers warmed to for his protective and caring nature. In my
latest March release, UNDER THE HOOD,
from Escape Publishing (Harlequin Digital First), he makes another appearance
as he begins to link Peta’s ex-husband, Paul Price, to the drug ring using a
group of teenagers as runners.
Cue the delightful and
energetic heroine of UNDER THE HOOD,
TJ Stevens. TJ heads up an apprenticeship program at the local workshop where troubled teens are given a second
chance at rehabilitation. Battling the daily challenges while trying to rebuild
a refuge on her semi-rural property, TJ stands to lose everything if her new
boss, Scott Devin, decides to drop the rehabilitation program in favour of
profit retention.
Scott soon finds himself
launched headfirst into the cause and in the middle of a plot that includes
murder. As fate throws TJ and Scott together, they must find a way to save the
teenagers and the refuge. With all that trouble on their hands, there’s no time
to fall in love and work relationships are never a good thing – or are they?
Suddenly I found the plot
thickening again and the gorgeous detective Mark seemed like the perfect man
for the job. I’ve left a few unsolved
mysteries for him in UNDER THE HOOD.
Keep an eye out for Mark’s story in UNDER
COVER OF DARK where the nasty gang kingpins, Gino Bennetti and Serena Snow
get their just desserts, and Detective Mark Johnson finds love where he least
expects to.
