Louisa George with her ONE MONTH TO BECOME A MUM Giveaway!

We'd like to introduce a New Zealand writer, Louisa George! Her debut book, ONE MONTH TO BECOME A MUM, a Medical Romance just got released! And she's also giving  one copy of her debut release, ONE MONTH TO BECOME A MUM which is in a 2 in 1 book with Margaret McDonagh on each blog stop plus a $50 US amazon voucher to whoever visits her the most on the tour! So check her full itinerary here and follow her around!

About Louisa...

A lifelong reader of most genres, Louisa discovered romance novels later than most, but immediately fell in love with the intensity of emotion, the high drama and the family focus of Medical Romance.

With a Bachelors Degree in Communication and a nursing qualification under her belt, writing Medical Romance seemed a natural progression, and the perfect combination of her two interests. And making things up is a great way to spend the day!

An English ex-pat, Louisa now lives north of Auckland, New Zealand, with her husband, two teenage sons and two male cats. Writing romance is her opportunity to covertly inject a hefty dose of pink into her heavily testosterone-dominated household. When she’s not writing or researching Louisa loves to spend time with her family and friends, enjoys traveling, and adores great food. She’s also hopelessly addicted to zumba.

Ten Things you didn’t know about One Month to Become a Mum

Waipu Main Street

1.      The book is set in a fictional town called North Beach

But it’s based on a real life place called Waipu in Northland, New Zealand

 2.      Green Hair

The idea for Jessie’s green hair came from a long summer swim last year when my friend’s daughter’s hair turned bright green from too much chlorine in the pool.
Waipu Cove Beach

3.      My Working Title for the book

Was The Doctor’s Baby Bargain (yuk?)

4.      I don’t have a daughter…

So it was heaps of fun imagining what having a three year old girl would be like!

5.      Vietnam

I have actually visited the orphanage in Vietnam and had my heart broken by all those gorgeous children needing a home

6.      Revisions

I had to do FOUR sets of revisions before I got the Call that lead to publication!

7.      Dedication

The first dedication in the book is to my Mum who has always been a huge source of support. Despite a lot of hardship in her life she managed to bring up three children single handedly, all of whom fulfilled their dreams. She rocks!

The second dedication is to my fabulous husband and two teenage boys who are totally amazing. They have been an enormous strength to me –although I’ve yet to convince my husband to read the book!

8.      Hot Hummus

In the book, Luke cooks a meal for Jessie, which consists of hot hummus. I got the idea from a recipe in a cookbook I’d received as a Christmas present. I have since been in touch with the author of that book and she has kindly agreed for me to share that recipe. So – at some point on this blog tour I will share it. Keep following me to find out when!

9.      Real life

People often ask if my books are based on real life- they’re not! But it’s fun to put in little snippets that my friends and family might recognize. For example, my sister recently had a baby and I bought him a floppy velvet giraffe, which he loves. The little girl in the story, Lucy, also has a beloved floppy velvet giraffe!

10.  Jessie’s Brother, Zac

Is getting his own story! I’m just at the plotting stage, but he’s going to be a playboy who’s hard to tame!

One Month To Become A Mum
Blurb

Some things in life are worth waiting for…

Jessie Price has lost her only chance at motherhood – it’s a constant hurt, until she meets sinfully sexy single dad Dr Luke McKenzie and his gorgeous little girl. Luke’s intoxicating kisses and his daughter’s adoring hugs have Jessie
longing for the impossible. But she's a temporary locum, the clock’s ticking – and there’s only a month to make all her wishes come true…

  1. Hi Louisa

I don't think I have had green hair from pool chlorine, but I have used a quick wash out hair spray to put some streaks in my hair for school spirit.

  2. Hi Amanda!

My friend's daughter's hair was truly bright green! She's blonde- and I think that's the reason it colored. My hair's dark so I've never noticed the effect chlorine has on hair before.

My sons often try to spray their hair for school events, but as they're both very dark too they're usually disappointed with the results.

  3. Hi Louisa
Its really great to know about the ten things about this book. And I did not knew that hair could turn green by too much chlorine. All the best with your first release and hope many more will come for you in future.

  6. Hi Luisa and RBH,

I laughed when I read about the green hair. Lately I thought I would get my hair coloured to brighten up my look a bit. I had no idea that the burgundy my beautician friend suggested would be such a strange colour. My little boy asked me 'Mummy, why is your hair purple?' That line (or some variation of it) will deefinitely find a place in one of my stories.

  17. Hi Maria! I've had plenty of hair coloring experiences - somehow they're not always the same color as the picture on the box! Hope you loved your burgundy hair! And, as a writer, you can always turn any experience into an idea for a book! LOL!

  21. Hi Talli! We meet again! People often ask me what inspires me, and it's odd things that fire a spark..in this book it was the green hair, in my second book it was a stain on the ceiling....sounds boring, right? But not when two seriously feisty people dodging love and denying attraction are involved!

  24. Hi Lynda! I emigrated to New Zealand nearly 10 years ago and immediately fell in love with the place (no, we hadn't been here before - crazy thing to do really). The only downside is that my parents and siblings all live in England and we don't get together as often as we'd like. Thank goodness for Skype and the internet!

  25. New Zealand is my dream place to visit. Love all the insight into the book. It's like watching the "making of" extra features on a DVD.

  26. Hi Louisa,

Waipu Beach sounds dreamy. Just a question, have you described the beach and surrounding area in your book?

Reading these things about the book was fantastic now I want to read the book!

Congrats on the release of One Month To Become A Mum!
