  1. How do you come up with the ideas for new stories?

Gosh, I honestly don’t know. Often there’s a character in a previous book who needs love and their story told. Other times I hear a snippet of something that prompts an idea. My daughter just told me a hilarious story from her workplace where someone accidentally sent a d!ck pic and chaos ensued. I mean… Don’t you want that story?

  1. Does writer's block ever happen to you?

Not really. I’ve been burned out which is different and means I need rest. If I’m struggling to find words, that usually means I’ve made a wrong turn earlier in the story and need to go back and figure that out before I can progress.

  1. How do you/would you cope if/when it strikes?

Well, when burn out happened, I had to drop a book. By that I mean, I had to call my editor and ask her to rearrange all my deadlines so the book that was due wound up being pushed to the end of the next year. I’m a bit of a workaholic so it’s hard for me to say no to work, but I’m working on self-care and making sure I’m able to sustain whatever pace I set so I’m just looking at all of my choices more closely and setting smaller, more easily achievable goals.

  1. Of all the stories you've written, what's your favourite?

Honestly? I genuinely love, love, love the book coming out this August, Afternoon Delight. It’s got some good laughs and I really needed that when I wrote it and I think the world needs it right now.

But I don’t want to take away from any of the other books I’ve written because they’re all special to me for various reasons whether it be the characters or the premise or that one line I’m really proud of.

  1. Do you live in your' character's world while you write?

Yes. Sometimes I’m so deep into my book, I can’t comprehend what my husband might be asking me in the moment. It just doesn’t compute. And I always want to make it feel real to the reader with those glamorous, sensual settings for Harlequin or the warm, cute settings of a small town. I want the reader to want to live there too.
