Our Feature this week is on: Susan Carlisle. She has a new book out this month in a Christmas anthology, Once Upon A Christmas Kiss.
Susan May’s love affair with books began when she made a bad grade in math in the sixth grade. Not allowed to watch TV until she brought the grade up, Susan filled her time with books. She turned her love of reading into a love of writing. Writing as Susan Carlisle she has completed more than 30 books for HarperCollins’s Harlequin imprint medical line. Her heroes are strong, vibrant man and the woman that challenge them.
She also writes nonfiction. Her book Nick’s New Heart 30 Years and Counting…is about her son’s heart transplant experience. Her second nonfiction is a historical biography called A WWII Flight Surgeon’s Story released under the author name S. Carlisle May.
She lives in Georgia with her husband of over 40 years. They have four children and eight grandchildren. Susan loves castles, traveling, cross-stitching and reads voraciously.

* What are common traps for new writers? Not finishing the book. It is important to put "the end" on a manuscript. Also, a good writer should never stop learning. They should always try to improve their craft.
* Do you also write non-fiction? I do. I've currently written three nonfiction books. Nick's New Heart 30 years and counting.... This book is about my youngest son who has had a heart transplant for 33 years. He receive his heart when he was one year old. A WWII Flight Surgeon's Story is a story about a flight surgeon who served in North Africa, England, France and into Germany. The most recent one is Daily Inspirations from the Unflappable Substitute about my 20 years for substituting in public schools.
* Do you read non-fiction? If yes, then what do you read? Yes, I do. I particularly read heart transplant stories, book on travel and writing craft or whatever else I'm interested in.
* A recent book you read which changed your perspective? A small book of quotes about love. It was a nice reminder that love is the most important thing in life.
* Tell us about your book...
Me, along with five other authors banded together to write an anthology about a small town in Tennessee called Cherry Creek. Many things are amazing about the mountain town including a legend that says a person will find their true love if they are in possession of a special book during the Christmas holidays.
My book, Once Upon a Christmas Promise, is about two people with scarred hearts who unexpectedly find each other. Laurel wants her old life back and Brandon could help her gain that, if he only would. He wants nothing to do with Laurel or her plan. Little do each of them know that only a few days together in a cabin in the snowy woods at Christmas time will change their minds about what they really want. Laurel will get her chance to prove herself to her ex-boyfriend/boss while Brandon will face his worse fear and step out into the world in order to help Laurel.
