1. If you have a pen name, can you explain how you came up with it?

My last name Rosenstein was imposed upon my Jewish ancestors by the ruling Hapsburg family in Germany centuries ago. And the king’s love of nature had him adding Rose as a beginning syllable. Stein can mean Stone. So, for literary impact, I changed Rose to Red and Stein to Stone. Redstone was born.

2. What are a few things we would find in or on your desk?

I have a desk but I don’t use it. I hate sitting at it. I’d be staring at a dull wall. My wife likes to use it. And it’s cluttered with a printer, laptop, mail, note paper, answering machine, and anything not put away that should be. The drawers are filled with items rarely used or remembered they’re even there. For me, I write on the couch or chair looking out at a lovely pond with wild birds and exotic plants.     

3. What motivates you to write?

I have always had a vivid imagination and the freedom to express my imagination. I grew up with the hobby of the week and with friends shot rockets to the moon and built model planes that crashed with first flights. During college, for my personal entertainment I created stories in my head, but it was only years later that I had the time and devotion to put my imagination on paper, first with short stories and then novels. And I fell in love with every word I wrote, good or bad. Since then, I love living in other worlds and becoming so many other people. When someone enjoys my stories, I am thrilled.     

4. Share something about yourself no one else knows?

I hope none of my friends are reading this. Before retiring I was a school psychologist and private practice psychotherapist as my careers. I wrote a psychology book on human nature and relationships Taming Your Inner & Outer Bullies: Confronting Life’s Stressors And Winning. So, when friends ask if I am analyzing them, I tell them “no” with an honest face. Not true. Of course I’m analyzing them. That’s my nature. Curiosity. But I’m not judging them. There’s no dark side of them, or anyone that I can see or wish to see. But, I’m not looking for them to nervous in my presence. So, a white lie.   

5 Tell us about your book....

Stardust Dreams is my second novel. A Sinister Obsession, a mystery thriller with a paranormal detective was the first. Romance was its sub-genre. In this story, Lance Forrester is a dreamer. After a celebrated career as an astronaut and engineer, he and a friend built a secret spacecraft to seek their destinies in the stars. But, his friend died. Now that Lance has terminal cancer, he hopes to convince Sage who he hasn’t seen since high school, to join him on his quest to reach an advanced alien civilization and immortality.

Sage Saint Charles lived a wild and notorious life in Hollywood before she descended into obscurity as a social recluse. Sage has regrets, more regrets than a person should have. When her drowsy eyes open, in hospice care, an unfamiliar old man is standing at her bedside.

Stardust Dreams is a love story. This unique tale of hope and faith is so realistic you just might feel you’ve gone along on their madcap adventure into the galaxy. Unfortunately, true life is not a child’s fairy tale. If Lance and Sage are to achieve their happiness , they must first overcome the emotional scars of their pasts. With every turn of the page, you’ll delight in the fascination and mystery of unknown worlds and destinies.
