Over to Jennifer ...

Thanks Romance Book Haven for hosting me today!

So Christmas is nearly upon us.  If you are anything like me, you’ll be rushing around like a mad thing trying to have everything organized before the relatives descend and the shops close for Christmas Day.  There are so many things I love about the lead up to Christmas, even though it is such a busy time of year.

My husband comes from a large family so there are lots of nieces and nephews to buy for.  I relish trying to find something for each of them that really suits each personality and passion.  One of  my nieces is mad on horses, so I’ve discovered this great horsey clothing label and have bought her a cute horseshoe shoulder bag and T-shirt.  One nephew has been nuts about inserts and creepy-crawlies since he was a toddler (yes, he’s picked the right country these.  So many nasty little things in Australia.).  One year we found him hunting in the garden for the ‘Easter’ Brown  (we’d spotted a deadly Eastern Brown Snake earlier that day!).  He thought it delivered chocolate Christmas eggs.  This child has every kind of bug catcher, relevant book and identification kit, so each year it is a challenge to find something new that feeds his buggy passion.

Food is another great attraction for me.  The difficulty is that I love eating but I’m definitely not passionate about the cooking part.  We often host Christmas Day lunch, so I pore over cookbooks looking for easy recipes that will taste good and award me this year’s kitchen goddess.

Although I’m super organized in most things, my house…well…let’s just say that being tidy isn’t top of my list of priorities.  However, as so many people drop in during the Season, I make a special effort to ensure the house is looking at least respectable.  I love fresh flowers, so I give myself a special pass to choose more exotic bunches rather than the cheapy ones I buy the rest of the year.

Jennifer's debut book just released from Destiny Romance.

The Convenient Bride

Sienna De Luca will do anything to save her family's hotel, and ruthless Italian businessman Antonio Moretti knows it. With problems of his own, he proposes a marriage of convenience and plans to use Sienna to secure his next business deal. But things don't go quite according to plan.

In keeping with her part of the bargain, Sienna travels to Venice to be with Antonio, who introduces her to a life of great luxury and opulence. As befits the fiancĂ©e of the famous Antonio Moretti, Sienna is given a new wardrobe of designer gowns and outfits and instructed exactly how to behave when out in public. But after thinking he can manipulate her at will, Antonio begins to realize he has seriously underestimated Sienna, her intelligence, her skills, her courage – and her beauty. Unexpectedly, Sienna gets too close and when she discovers his dark secret, Antonio's perfectly planned life begins to unravel.

  4. Hi Jennifer, Hi Nas,

As I live in India, I was amazed to learn that many people here think that Christians spend Christmas day baking cakes. I learned to explain to people that baking is part of many people's Christmas preparation - but it's not part of mine, the trip to the bakery is. I just enjoy the special atmosphere of the season above all and enjoy time with the family.

  5. Hello Jennifer and Nas,

I love to take my little girl to whatever Christmas movie is playing. After the movie, we shop and eat somewhere nice. Then we'll usually get a pedicure. She's eight-years-old, so I'm cherishing every Christmas before she grows up and leaves home.

Then Convenient Bride sounds like a mysterious story! I want to know what Antonio's secret is! Way to hook me w/your blurb. :)

  6. Celeste, that sounds like a lovely day to spend with your daughter.

Antonio's secret is pretty heart-wretching. I had tears rolling down my face as I wrote the scene where Sienna finds out!!

  14. Sounds like a lovely story.

Also, I'll probably have a terrible time if I one day have a son like your nephew, Jennifer.

Terrified of creepy crawly things. :-)

  15. I'm done with my holiday shopping and card giving. Phew. It was a hectic few weeks, but I like to be done early. I don't have to worry about cooking since I go elsewhere for dinner.
